20/20 Vision Again...Fact or Fiction..?

Can we really rebuild our vision...to the point that we need NO glasses or contacts...ever...?

A search of the keywords "see without glasses" yielded me at least half a dozen links to websites, the first being a sponsored link with exactly the same phrase as my keywords.

See Without Glasses markets an audio program called "The Program for Better Vision" which guides the user thru' a series of steps to improve & achieve better vision for anyone who suffers from :

• Near-sightedness (Myopia)
• Far-sightedness
• Astigmatism
• Poor night vision
• "Middle-age" sight (reading glasses)
• Crossed eye (strabismus)
• Lazy eye (amblyopia)
• Sensitivity to light, eyestrain, headaches, burning eyes

Before I go on, let's understand some basic deifinitions of the above listed eye conditions.

Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see objects near to you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry. Nearsightedness most commonly occurs when your eye is slightly longer from front to back than average. This causes light rays to be focused more toward the front of rather than on the back of your eyes.

Long-sightedness (hyperopia) is a common condition that affects the ability to focus. In a long-sighted eye the light focuses behind the retina, blurring the image. If it is significant long-sightedness can cause vision problems, headaches and tiredness. Glasses, contact lenses and laser techniques are used to correct long-sightedness.

Astigmatism is a vision condition that occurs when the front surface of your eye, the cornea, is slightly irregular in shape. This irregular shape prevents light from focusing properly on the back of your eye, the retina. As a result, your vision may be blurred at all distances. People with severe astigmatism will usually have blurred or distorted vision, while those with mild astigmatism may experience headaches, eye strain, fatigue or blurred vision at certain distances.

Poor Night Vision (night-blindness) simply refers to the inability to see clearly during the night when lighting conditions are poor. This condition unless accompanied by other eye pathology does not usually involve true blindness, even at night.Age related macular degeneration is the impairment of the part of the retina that controls central vision. Specifically, the macula weakens and thins over time. The consequence is a progressive blurring, haziness, or cloudy vision when looking straight (center), while the vision remains clear and sharp to the periphery. Another common cause of poor vision or cloudy vision is cataracts.

Middle-Age Sight ( presbyopia ) refers to the inability to maintain a clear image (focus) as objects are moved closer. Presbyopia is due to reduced elasticity of the lens with increasing age.

Crossed eyes (strabismus) refers to a misalignment of the eyes: the eye don't point at the same object together. Crossed eyes (esotropia) are one type of strabismus; "wall-eyes" (exotropia) are another. The exact cause is unknown, but appears to be a problem with the eye muscles. Strabismus can affect depth perception.

Lazy eye (amblyopia) refers to the decrease in vision in one or both eyes without detectable anatomic damage to the retina or visual pathways. Usually uncorrectable by eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Sensitivity to light, eyestrain includes blurred vision and irritated eyes. It is caused by looking at a screen for long periods without focusing periodically at distance objects. It could also be caused by prolonged close work by a person with an uncorrected vision problem.

That's all for now...will add on more stuff the next time.
